When it comes to custom printed flags, one of the problems color fading – especially when used outdoors for long periods of time. This is typically caused by low quality inks or low quality fabrics which are not resistant to sunlight and weather. To remedy the problem, first determine if the flag was created using quality, UV resistant inks. These inks are vital for color retention. Also, the fabric is equally as important. Many quality custom flags use Polyester as it holds color stronger than other fabrics along with being more resistant to the sun. If your flag is fading, it may be time to consider a replacement flag created using eco-friendly, UV resistant inks. Most dependable flag manufacturers use such inks these days, so it is not hard to come across custom printed flags designed to last.
Custom flags often have unique issues such as uneven printing or blurry logos. There may have been a lack of attention during the printing process or the design file may have been of low quality. First of all, check the design file. Is it in a high-resolution format, as low-res image sprints often result in blurry logos on flags? If the flag is designed correctly, the printing technique could be the issue. For the best results, precision color matching digital printing should be used. Many of the highest quality flag makers use this technique because it offers the clearest and smoothest results. If the flag you received is printed unevenly, you should contact the supplier. A quality flag supplier will be more than willing to resolve this issue by either better file reprinting or adjusting the setup to guarantee a crisp custom printed flag.
The tearing or fraying of fabric is a critical issue that concerns custom flags being used outdoors, more so flags that are exposed to strong winds or rain during inclement weather. Fabric flags being thin and delicate, or the stitches not being strong enough to hold the fabric seams, are the most common reasons for fraying fabric flags. In the case of custom printed flags, fabric printed flags, the very first and most durable option is to go with thick polyester fabric flags. Thicker polyester fabric flags are much more durable and less likely to tear given the weather conditions. Fraying fabric flags are not a problem, although mending bigger tears is advisable for fabric flags, sewing is not the only option. First, take a close look at the issue, if the fabric is of good quality, and the sewing is strong, this issue will not occur frequently.
At times, a custom flag might not suit a flagpole which results in the flag not being able to slide down, or instead not being able to slide up freely. This usually stems from not measuring the flagpole properly prior to ordering. Start by measuring the flagpole’s circumference and the length of the flagpole sleeve. The sleeve should be larger and able to move, but not enough to slip around. Please remember to dispute the notion that tightening a flag sleeve is inevitable. It is in fact very easy to stretch the fabric and is the better alternative which can be done if the fabric is made from polyester. Gentle stretching the fabric is the preferred method to take in order to reduce the amount of sleeves that slide around freely. While ordering a new custom printed flag, always communicate your flagpole measurements to the maker to ensure that the proper custom fit is achieved.
Double sided custom printed flags offer the best visibility. However issues such as the design bleeding through from one side or the color discrepancies on both sides of the flags can occur. This results when the flag printing process lacks a middle ave layer that serves to block the reverse side. Blockout flags are specially printed with a blockout layer between the two sides which keeps each sides design clear and vibrant. If the reverse side of a double sided flag has design bleed through, the manufacturer should be contacted. They will be instructed to reprint the flag with the blockout layer. Lastly, both sides should be printed with a design of the same quality ink to ensure the colors complements the flag on both sides. This will ensure the flag looks professional from any angle.
